Barossa Valley

AGD designed this private garden in the Barossa Valley for vignerons near Greenock.  The country style of the garden compliments the vineyard vistas and is attuned to the South Australian climate.

AGD felt it was important that the charming country cottage had a garden with a sense of timelessness and character so that it appeared to have always been part of the surroundings.

The garden takes advantage of the views into the vineyard and repeated planting of carefully selected species gives an understated sense of simplicity that does not compete with the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Material selections of random stone, red brick and large format sandstone pavers compliment the home. As does the French style planters and terracotta bowls planted with quintessential geraniums.

The circular courtyard patio features a magnificent red brick wood oven, skillfully built by the client and oozing in character.   A low border of rosemary is backed by an olive hedge providing an intimate space protected from prevailing winds. Potted bay trees, citrus, quandong bushes, lavender and hedges of the lovely old rose 'La Sevillana' add to the Mediterranean flavour of this vineyard setting.
