Hyde Park

AGD designed this garden with a classic contemporary theme in mind. Black pebble patterns form feature paving 'carpets' in three integral areas; at the entry to the garden, the entry to the swimming pool & in the private entertaining courtyard.  These textural carpets combined with the tiled water feature adjacent the swimming pool complement the charcoal/black detailing on the house.

Dwarf pencil pines frame the glass mosaic water feature while the foreground planting of dwarf agapanthus provide a soft, textural edge to the coping. Raised garden beds add dimension to the garden while also protecting the plants from being splashed with swimming pool water.

The ornamental pears provide shade in summer while allowing plenty of light into the garden during winter. The colour of their wonderful autumn foliage complements the terracotta roof tiles of both the house & garage while their white blossoms are a delight in spring.  Espaliered Chinese star jasmine softens the garage wall, providing a dense green screen with perfumed white flowers over summer.

The garden's limited plant palette, well defined spaces & dense plantings in various shades of green has a sense of elegant simplicity resulting in a restful retreat for the client and family.
