Tennyson Award of Excellence Landscape Association of S.A. 2003
Located on the foreshore at Tennyson, the award-winning courtyard garden presented challenges, not withstanding at least 6 different points of access, poor soil and salt winds.
The owners' brief was to create a contemporary space to complement the modernist architecture and interior style of the home, whilst incorporating a 'warm and welcoming feel'. The use of timber was instrumental in creating this effect while also providing a contrast to the light-coloured walls and large format sandstone pavers.
A feature of the garden is the abstract copper reed sculptures designed by Nadia. Rivulets of water trickle from the reeds into a raised sail-shaped pond and then overflow into a stainless steel spillway with a pebble channel which surrounds the decking. The re-circulating water creates a tranquil mood and the gentle movement makes a relaxing space. |
